Leafy Greens and All those Things

For the most part this is just a growth update. No real note worth events have happened. Plants are getting bigger, taller, and structurally stronger.

Look at Papa Lars growing so tall. He is doing well.

Battle Scars and Papa Lars

Hey everyone, things are going well again. The big fat evil cat has ceased terrorizing my plants and moved on to other means of mischief. My plants I think are happy. Since replanting of them, the plants have perked up a bit more and have started repairing it's self. It's been a very pleasing sight to watch unfold. I thought I was going to have to start over.

I have continued my daily watering as usual (except tuesday, I missed tuesday watering) and I believe that every one of the plants have now sprouted. I think last week there was still one or two pods still kinda shy about coming out of its shell. It's cool though, better late than never!

Also at this time I bought another plant to add to the mix. This one however I don't think really counts towards my project however because I did not grow him from a seed but instead bought him as a already sprouted plant. Within one week though, he grew so fast! Amazingly fast, much faster rate of growth than all of the smaller sprouts. I think for this plant I will name him Lars, Papa Lars.

Damn Cat, Stop That! Go Chase a Rat!

So this week I'm starting with a picture. Let us go back and take another look at it..........

Plant Rant number 3, here we go.

MY ROOMMATE''S CAT KNOCKED ALL MY PLANTS DOWN!

I didn't discover this either until later. I saw the cat dash away from the balcony earlier as if it were scared but I never went outside once it happened. Im pretty sure it was them.....

So once I realized what had happened, I immediately put them all back in the tray and watered them. The leaves were shriveling up and the soil looked dry. Also, some of the stems were broken. The tallest most beautiful of beans had a broken stem!!!  I was so sad....

I decided later that this might be the best time to relocate them from outside of the mini green house (since they were already dislocated from it)  and put them in mulch based containers. Also from here on I stopped using the mist bottle and I started pouring more substantial amounts of water in each cubical.

Hopefully my plants can recover from the traumatizing, soil shattering, stem breaking, leaf crushing, experience....... will update upon their status soon.

Sprouts Poppin I'm Hoppin

Hey people! Plant Rant number 2 is here.  Been about a week and a half since my last post and thought Id update this.  My plants are just starting to sprout. The pictures down below are taken  about 2 days after I saw the first breaks in the soil.  Everything is going great.  I have been still keeping up with the same treatment, just spray with water mist and keep the plastic top on the box.

I'm really surprised actually by how well the green house box thing worked. I wasn't expecting sprouts for another week, week and a half.  Perhaps I just had wrong expectations though.  Really pleased either way though. The plants are now sprouting to tall to keep them fully contained within the box and lid.

Anyways, Think I'm done with this Plant Rant. Really pleased with the progress so far. Was not expecting such results. Ive always had such bad results in the past when growing plants from seeds.

Seed Plantin, I'm Rantin

I first went to Orchards hardware supply store. There I obtained a variety of seeds, potting soil, and a miniature green house specially designed for seed and seedlings.

I was a little skeptical at first about this product but it worked great.
The mini green house comes with a plastic tray filled with these compacted soil pods. Each pod has a hole in it to put your seed into. I just filled each pod with 2 seeds each and placed the clear plastic lid over it. Everyday whenever I had time, I would come and remove the lid and spray the space with a spray bottle that sprays fine water mist. I did this everyday this week. Still no change though.

All together I planted Cherry tomatoes, Beef Tomatoes, and a type of string bean.
